Wellington is quite a romantic city, great for going on dates, even when those dates are just with friends. Last night Alex and I had a night out on the town. We got cheap tickets to go see a dress rehearsal of the Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Iloanthe. We went out to a Chinese restaurant right by the opera house before hand. Then we hoped next door to the opera house (which was pretty small and not very ornate compared to the theaters I’ve been to in Boston and New York). There was only one stumble in the play to indicate that it was a dress rehearsal, but the caliber of acting and production values were a lot less than I was expecting. Nevertheless it was a fun show about mix ups in parliament and fairies and weddings. After the show we went to get gellato at kaffee eis. I had passion fruit and Alex got chocolate and vanilla, all delicious. We both agree that we would need to come back and try every flavor. It is currently raining and howling with wind, but I was hoping to get out this weekend, possibly climbing Mount Vic to get a proper look at the city. I’m still determined to see and do everything while I’m here, but am waiting for sunnier days to do a lot of the outdoorsy things.

Hi Kailah, Your grandfather will enjoy reading this, especially the title, as that is the name of one of his all-time favorite Marx Brothers movies.
